Like I had mentioned yesterday, Vancouver Fashion Week is just around the corner. I’m getting more and more excited as the days count down, only 5 to go! I’m looking forward to seeing my friends, some of my favorite stylish babes and some great designers who have poured their hearts into their collections. Not to mention it’s in it’s 25th season!
The one question that comes along with VFW is “What the hell do I wear!?” Luckily, I have it covered for the Opening Gala on Monday March 16th. I had quick shopping date on Robson Street and to add to the fun, Stephanie Trembath from Verlico, Photographer Thomas Bullock and Videographer Treven LaPage joined me on my excursion. We have an awesome video to show you this week but first, the story in photos with a little behind the scenes action.
My first stop was at the Sephora on Robson Street where I got my hair and makeup done. This was the perfect way to gain inspirational looks for how I’ll style myself for VFW. Thank to you to their artist Jesse for the makeup and Jayla for my hair style at the Bumble & Bumble Hair Studio.
Next stop, perusing Robson Street for the perfect outfit. The biggest plus about Robson Street is that I live ON IT!! I literally only have to walk down the street to get to some of my favorite shops.
I scored the best outfit from Aritzia! The weather has been beautiful here in Vancouver so I can finally play around with some warmer Spring outfits. I quickly took my outfit home to style it up just how I want for the Opening Gala. I can’t show you too much today! I’ll be reveal the full and final look tomorrow.

If you’ve been living on the East Coast… I apologize for this post as it’s going to sting a little bit into the wounds that has been your winter season. The west coast, or as I like to call it “The Best Coast” has been surprisingly warm for this time of the year. The cherry blossoms have bloomed and I’m outside in a t-shirt walking the seawall, sunglasses on wearing my Joe Fresh slip-ons. This is definitely a time to be outside. With that said, it’s been a killer for our winter activities. The only mountain open is Whistler (although I just saw a post about the other mountains starting to re-open.) I’ve been snowboarding only once this season but thankfully Land Rover gave me a reason to get back up to the mountain.
On Thursday, myself, Joshua Langston of The Social Life, Kate Legresley of Vitamin Daily and Marc Smith of 30 Day Adventures packed up in the Range Rover Evoke and Land Rover New Discovery Sport for a day in Whistler. Land Rover’s latest campaign HIBERNOT is all about getting outside and not hibernating. Using these lively winter months to really get together with the outdoors and experience some spirited activities. I haven’t driven in a year (except once a few weeks ago) so this was my time to shine! I drove the Range Rover Evoke on the way there and not to toot my own horn or anything but our Land Rover expert did say that he would place me in the top 5% of the best drivers in his 10 year career. *Hair toss*. Take that mom and dad!
The drive was super smooth and I was pretty impressed with the features, especially the camera recognition for speed signs that promptly display on your dashboard with a little image showing you how fast you should be going – I’m a little bit of a speedy gonzalez behind the wheel. I get it from my dad… who I’m pretty sure thinks his Ford Focus is in the Indy 500. I drove the Land Rover New Discovery Sport on the way home and it wasn’t as much of my cup of tea as the Evoke – it was still a great drive but I preferred the ease of the Evoke.
After a beautiful drive up the Sea To Sky Highway we took our adventure even further and experienced the Peak To Peak Gondola – this is where all of the boarders and skiers were, it was a haven of brightly colored suits and fresh snowfall – a definite HIBERNOT moment. After the Gondola we had a knockout meal at The Four Seasons Whistler with a lunch freshly prepared by the hotel’s executive chef Tory Martindale. For more images on the day you can check out my Instagram at @RandaSalloum.
This really got me in the spirit of wanting to be outside a lot more than I already am. HIBERNOT will be my moto for the rest of the year!
